2009 K-5th Grade Ski Program

The Town of Dover offers a recreational ski/snowboard program to children in the Kindergarten through 5th grade at Nashoba Valley Ski Area in Westford, MA in January and February 2009. This program offers families an inexpensive way to introduce their children to skiing or snowboarding, or to improve their skills. Ski lessons are offered to children in Kindergarten through 5th grade, snowboard lessons to those 8 and older. The program for either activity includes an hour long lesson and an afternoon lift ticket. Nashoba is a 50 minute drive from Dover and has excellent instructors and snow-making equipment. Rental equipment is available and reserved ahead of time for the 6 visits. For identification & safety reasons we would like all participants to wear the town recreation department identifier which will be a pinnie worn outside the participant’s coat with ‘Dover’ labeled on it. This will be issued to you and if not returned at the end of the season, there will be a replacement cost associated.

Dates:
Wednesdays - January: 7, 14, 21, 28 & February: 4, 11
* If bad weather occurs and the program can not run one day during these consecutive 6 weeks, then a week will be added at the end of the program (excluding February vacation week).*

Registration & Equipment Fitting night: Wednesday, November 19th, 2008 at the Dover Parks & Recreation Office from 6-7 pm. ( Equipment Fitting & rental checks made to "Nashoba Valley.") All skiiers or riders who wish to rent equipment during the season must attend this night!

Lessons:
2:45 – 3:45 Ski (K-5th Grade) or Snowboard (8 & older)

Pricing:
$175.00 for 6 ski or snowboard lessons and an afternoon lift ticket (good from 1:00 pm until 6:15 pm).
$155.00 for 6 afternoon lift tickets (NO LESSONS).
$85.00 fee to rent equipment for all 6 weeks, or until program ends. (equipment rental checks made out to "Nashoba Valley". To rent equipment you must attend the registration and fitting night November 19th, 2008 at the Dover Park and Recreation Office!)

Transportation:
Parents arrange transportation for their children. Directions will follow with your badge.

Rentals:
Snowboard and Ski equipment can be rented from Nashoba for
all 6 dates for a total cost of $85.00. The child must attend the boot fitting and pay for either package at the Dover Recreation Department Wednesday, Nov. 19th, 2008 from 6-7pm. If you are unable to make this fitting you must make private arrangements with Nashoba. ($5 additional if participant is not prefit for rental.)

Separate checks are required for rental, payable to Nashoba Valley Ski Area. OVO helmets are in stock and will be available for purchase and pick-up that night at a cost of $50.

Chaperones:
A parent for each child is required to chaperone for one of
the six dates. Please check the dates you are available on the
registration form. If you would like to ski there are a limited
number of free ski pins, please indicate if you would like to be
considered for a pin. You will be notified which day you will
chaperone and your responsibilities.

Registration:
Please complete one registration form with release signed on back for each child, make copies if you have more than one child. Checks are payable to Town of Dover. Separate checks for rentals should be brought to registration night at Dover Recreation Department Wednesday, November 19th, 2008 6-7pm. If you cannot come to registration night, send completed forms prior to the meeting to:
