Footer Town of DoverThe Treasurer/Collector reports to the Town Administrator who reports to the Board of Selectmen. The town Treasurer plays a vital role in the management of Dover’s town finances. The Treasurer is responsible for collecting all assessed taxes, including:

  • Excise taxes
  • Motor vehicle taxes
  • Personal property taxes
  • Real estate taxes

Investing of town general funds and trust funds is also the responsibility of the Treasurer.

Payroll & Health Insurance Records

The Treasurer processes biweekly payroll for all town departments and maintains health insurance records for active and retired employees.

Dover Town Code Description of Responsibilities

There shall be a Treasurer/Collector appointed by the Board of Selectmen for a one-year term. The Treasurer/Collector shall give bond satisfactory to the Board of Selectmen. The Treasurer/Collector’s duties and authority shall include, but shall not be limited to, those specified in Massachusetts General Laws (MGL) Chapter 41, Sections 35 to 38A and Chapter 44, Section 2. Whenever it shall be necessary to execute any deed conveying Town land, the same shall be executed with the approval of the Board of Selectmen by the Treasurer/Collector on behalf of the Town. No Town order shall be paid to any person whose taxes are unpaid.
